A dressing room is a boutique for one client. We design walk-in closets in which every coat, every shoe and every watch has its own illuminated place, and in which dressing becomes a ritual.

We begin with an inventory: how much hanging, how much folded, which shoes, bags, jewellery. From that follows a floor plan with an island in the middle, cabinets up to the ceiling and a mirror wall that doubles the room. Daylight is welcome, provided it is UV-filtered; artificial light is indispensable: LED strips in every cabinet, even light at the mirror and mood light for the evening.

The cabinets are solid: oak, walnut or lacquered wood, with leather inlays in the drawers, glass display cases for watches and bags and brass rails. A bench or armchair, a rug and an artwork make the dressing room a room instead of a cupboard.

Leiden & Oegstgeest

Renovating a dressing room in Leiden & Oegstgeest

In Leiden & Oegstgeest we mainly work in canal houses, townhouses, villas and luxury apartments, in neighbourhoods such as Rapenburg, Binnenstad, Professorenwijk, Burgemeesterswijk and Vogelwijk. Each typology places its own demands on a dressing room: height, daylight, pipework, structure and sometimes heritage rules. Our architects know the local frameworks and design within them without compromising the end result.

The atelier is located in The Hague, 25 min from Leiden & Oegstgeest. A project director is on site daily, and after handover that same person remains your permanent contact for maintenance, warranty and new wishes.

01

Canal houses and cellars

Canal houses require structural care: foundation surveys, watertight cellars and logistics over the water. We plan hoisting, exemptions and deliveries before the start.

02

Listed buildings and protected townscapes

Many properties fall under heritage protection or a protected townscape. Our architects take care of the permit, consultation with heritage committees and the restoration of historic detailing, combined with modern installations.

03

Academic calendar

In university towns we plan renovations around sabbaticals, academic years and international relocations, with English-language communication where desired.

04

Living on the water

Jetties, terraces and sightlines to the water are designed as part of the whole, with materials that withstand moisture.

Hotel inspiration

Flagship boutiques show little and illuminate everything. We apply that same direction to your wardrobe.

Materials

  • Solid oak and walnut
  • Lacquered wood in soft tones

Frequently asked questions

Luxury dressing room renovation in Leiden & Oegstgeest

Allow an indicative € 25,000 to € 80,000 for a bespoke dressing room, depending on size and material. The exact price follows from the design and the bill of materials; you receive a fixed contract sum before the start.

Yes. Aftercare is part of every commission in Leiden & Oegstgeest: a visit after 14 days, checks after 3, 6 and 12 months and an annual inspection with maintenance plan thereafter.

From about 8 m² a real dressing room with island emerges; from 12 m² there is room for seating and a mirror wall. We also design compact variants.

Oak, walnut and cedar (against moths) are ideal. We use water-based lacquers and odourless finishes.

Enfilade Care

We hand over. And then we stay.

Checks after 3, 6 and 12 months

Tuning of climate and lighting, settling of materials, operation of bespoke work: we check and correct.

Annual inspection and maintenance plan

Every year an inspection of stone, wood, installations and art, with a tailored maintenance calendar.
