The staircase is the only piece of furniture you walk over every day. We design stairs as sculptures that connect floors, bring in light and give art a wall ten metres high.
A staircase begins with the structure: floating, curved, with a closed string or an open spine. Our architects calculate and draw; cabinetmakers and steel fabricators from our network build. Material follows the architecture: solid oak or walnut in a townhouse, natural stone or steel in a new build, a combination when the property asks for it.
The balustrade is the signature: forged steel, brass balusters, glass without clamps or an upholstered handrail. Lighting in the treads or along the wall makes the staircase a light object in the evening. In existing stairwells we restore the original stairs and add a void or roof light.

What makes a staircase hotel standard
01
Structure as design
Floating, curved or closed: the structure determines the sculpture.
02
Balustrade as signature
Steel, brass, glass or upholstered, matched to the property.
03
Light on the treads
Lighting that shows the way and lets the stairs float in the evening.
04
Art over the full height
A work that appears differently on every floor.
Amsterdam
Renovating a staircase in Amsterdam
In Amsterdam we mainly work in canal houses, townhouses, penthouses and lofts, in neighbourhoods such as Grachtengordel, Museumkwartier, Apollobuurt, Willemspark and Jordaan. Each typology places its own demands on a staircase: height, daylight, pipework, structure and sometimes heritage rules. Our architects know the local frameworks and design within them without compromising the end result.
The atelier is located in The Hague, 50 min from Amsterdam. A project director is on site daily, and after handover that same person remains your permanent contact for maintenance, warranty and new wishes.

01
Canal houses and cellars
Canal houses require structural care: foundation surveys, watertight cellars and logistics over the water. We plan hoisting, exemptions and deliveries before the start.
02
Listed buildings and protected townscapes
Many properties fall under heritage protection or a protected townscape. Our architects take care of the permit, consultation with heritage committees and the restoration of historic detailing, combined with modern installations.
03
High-rise and owners' associations
Penthouses and apartments require coordination with the owners' association, building management and lift logistics, and careful sound insulation for floors and installations. We arrange it all.
04
Historic city centre
Car-free centres and narrow streets require construction logistics to the hour: delivery windows, container placement and exemptions are planned in advance so the schedule holds.
