A wine cellar is a room for patience. We build cellars and wine rooms in which temperature, humidity and light are perfect, and in which the bottles are displayed as what they are: a collection.

Storage begins with climate: 12 to 14 degrees, 60 to 70 percent humidity, no vibration, no light. We design the insulation, the vapour barrier and the climate installation as one system, whether it concerns an existing cellar under a townhouse or a glass wine room next to the dining room.

Then comes the presentation. Racks in solid oak, black steel or brass, matched to the format of your bottles and cases. A tasting table in natural stone, a sink for decanting and lighting that lets you read the labels without warming the wine. A glass wall with climate separation makes the collection part of the interior.

What makes a wine cellar hotel standard

01

Climate as foundation

Temperature, humidity and vibration under control, with a silent installation outside the cellar.

02

Bespoke racks

Oak, steel or brass, drawn to your bottles, cases and magnums.

03

Tasting table and sink

A place to decant and taste, in natural stone and wood.

04

Glass presentation

A climate-separated glass wall that shows the collection from the dining room.

Bloemendaal & Heemstede

Renovating a wine cellar in Bloemendaal & Heemstede

In Bloemendaal & Heemstede we mainly work in country houses, dune villas, villas and modern new-build villas, in neighbourhoods such as Aerdenhout, Overveen, Bentveld, Bloemendaal-Dorp and Vogelenzang. Each typology places its own demands on a wine cellar: height, daylight, pipework, structure and sometimes heritage rules. Our architects know the local frameworks and design within them without compromising the end result.

The atelier is located in The Hague, 50 min from Bloemendaal & Heemstede. A project director is on site daily, and after handover that same person remains your permanent contact for maintenance, warranty and new wishes.

01

Villa districts and aesthetics committees

In villa districts strict aesthetic frameworks apply to extensions, outbuildings and materials. We guide the entire permit process and design in harmony with the landscape.

02

Nature and greenery

Building near woodland, dunes or Natura 2000 areas requires careful surveys and permits. We take care of them and design extensions that respect the landscape.

03

Estates and large volumes

Country houses call for climate concepts that offer comfort without visible technology, and for a design that treats house, outbuildings and garden as one whole.

04

Living by the sea

Salt, wind and sand place demands on materials and detailing. We choose finishes that stay beautiful on the coast and design outdoor spaces that embrace the maritime climate.

Hotel inspiration

The wine rooms of starred restaurants display the collection as art. We bring that presentation to your cellar, with the climate of a professional cave.

Allow an indicative € 35,000 to € 120,000 for a wine room with climate control and bespoke racks; excavating or deepening a cellar comes on top. The exact price follows from the design and the bill of materials; you receive a fixed contract sum before the start.

Yes. Aftercare is part of every commission in Bloemendaal & Heemstede: a visit after 14 days, checks after 3, 6 and 12 months and an annual inspection with maintenance plan thereafter.

Yes, almost always. We examine moisture, height and ventilation and design the insulation and climate installation to measure.

A wine cellar is below ground and benefits from natural coolness; a wine room is a climate-controlled space on a floor, often with glass. We build both.
